Who is the Orlando Food Tourist?

Hello! I’m Jess, the Orlando Food Tourist.

When I moved to Orlando last summer, my first thought was that the food scene would resemble what you’d likely find on I-Drive — chains. Yet, since then, I’ve discovered that the city offers so much more.

Here, you can get BBQ in a bento box. Seven-cheese mac. Homemade Italian. And half-pound cookies.

So it only seemed natural to start a food blog to share all of these incredible eats. Much like a tourist would look for the most exciting experiences in a city, I’ve dedicated my free time to uncovering Orlando’s best food spots. If something is smothered in cheese, made with a family recipe, or is as large as my face, chances are I plan to try it.

Though I’m located in Southeast Orlando, I make a conscious effort to explore offerings throughout all of Orlando, from homemade pasta in Altamonte to cookies and ice cream in Audubon Park. And, of course, I’ll spend weekends sampling all of the larger-than-life theme park eats at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure. Because part of the thrill of living in Orlando is the proximity to mouse-shaped snacks and butterbeer.

Whether you’re an Orlando native looking for a new spot to try or a tourist visiting for the same reasons I always did, welcome. I’m glad you stumbled upon my little passion project. Stay for awhile — I always have snacks.

You can follow my foodie adventures on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, or send me a note on what to try next at orlandofoodtourist@gmail.com.
